Well, I got my camera back from Canon today after sending it to them to be repaired, and one of the first things I did was start snapping shots of everything around my house! I guess you could call this photo of the screen saver on my computer "experimental", but I'm not sure I can call it a successful experiment

Sunrise

I'm not much of a sunrise person. In fact, going thru my photos yesterday made me realize that I exactly zero photos of the rising sun. I was tempted to claim that one of my few sunset photos was actually a sunrise, but in the interest of authenticity, I dragged myself out of bed this morning to see if I could catch the sun as it came up over the horizon. Unfortunately, I live in an area where the horizon isn't visible. Sunrise this morning was supposed to be at 7:05, but the sun didn't actually peek out over the top of our townhouse complex until 7:36 am.

This huge mausoleum is found at Maplewood Cemetery. It's engraved "Mangum, 1905". Mangum is a common name around here, but it's also the name of a street in downtown Durham, so I bet it's the final resting place of someone really important!

Celebration

This wonderful carrot cake was decorated to celebrate the birthdays of my husband and one of his sisters and one brother who all have birthdays in November.
