For the third time this week, I've responded to a meme that asks for something "White". I suppose they've all had snow in mind, but since we've only had flurries once this year, way back in November if you can imagine, then I've been looking for other white things to show. This was taken at Duke Gardens in the spring of 2006.
This is probably the last of my volunteer sunflowers this year. There are several that have looked ready to bloom for days now, but this is the only one that opened. I hadn't planned on trying to photograph the bee, but he wouldn't go away.
I grew up seeing these tiny flowers everywhere, but I never heard a name for them. When I decided to use this photo, I decided to figure out what they are. It's not easy to know how to search for a description, but I Googled "tiny pink flower weed" and looked thru the images until I found one that gave me a name! Turns out they're called smartweed or ladysthumb. Who knew?
This is one of my latest "crop" of flower pictures. As in the past, this is a volunteer sunflower growing under one of my bird feeders. I have no idea what that bug is that's on it, I had never seen one of those before!
When I got a new camera, I started feeling ambitious. I've been entering my very ordinary snapshots on every photo meme site I can find. Maybe there's someone out there who won't think they're all just awful!
I would really love to hear what people think. I've also added the ratings recently in case there are people who have an opinion but don't feel like writing a comment!
All of these pictures are stored on Picasaweb and I've set up a slideshow of them on the bottom of the left column. If you're interested, clicking on the entry will open another window where you can see more info, such as the date and location of the picture. Or check out this map showing where my pictures were taken.
Clicking on the post title should take you to the challenge where I've submitted the photo.
