I've decided I should participate in these memes when a theme makes me think of a particular photo I've taken. This is one I never thought I'd have an excuse to post!

Park

This bandstand can be found in the town square of the place where I grew up in Ohio.

Height

Taken from the base of the Confederate Memorial on the grounds of the State Capitol in Raleigh, I had to tilt the camera to get it's entire height in the shot!

Dark

Just before sunrise a few weeks ago.

This mockingbird was singing a beautiful song as it rested on the top of a tall gravestone at Old Chapel Hill Cemetery this morning.

This photo was not supposed to look like this. This is what you might get while taking a photo from the passenger side of a moving car after dark using a flash. Not what I expected, but I've always liked that ghostly effect!

Perfect

I love the way the seeds line up in perfect rows.

Job

When I visited Glennview Cemetery to fulfill a Find a Grave request, the groundskeepers were so helpful. They took me to the grave and spent several minutes cleaning the marker so that my photo would look nice! It's a tough job to work outside when the temperature is over 100º!

Humorous

Well, it looks like something made Lizzie laugh.

Sculpture

Coincidentally, John and I visited the NC Museum of Art just yesterday in time for this "Sculpture" theme. You can click on the thumbnail to the right to enlarge the description of this piece. It's a funerary monument for a man, his wife and their son. I see it as a nearly 2000 year old grave marker. I was impressed by what I saw at the museum, but this is definitely one of my favorites!

Futuristic

John won this award in 2001. It was actually a big deal, he got to go to the BrainShare Europe conference that year, and we managed to scrape together enough money and airline miles for me to make the trip with him to Nice, France. We spent our 8th wedding anniversary there. Maybe someday I'll get around to scanning all the photos I took on that trip.
