Looking north from the top of a lighthouse at Lake Minatare in western Nebraska. The beach may not look like much, but when you live in a place that gets less than 15 inches of rain each year, you're happy with wherever you can get a little wet in the summer. Normally it would be packed on a July evening, but you can see the rain heading our way in the distance. In Spring and early Summer, most of the cottonwood trees surrounding the lake are partially submerged, but since it does double duty as an irrigation reservoir, by the end of August you can usually walk thru the middle of the lake without your head going underwater.
