My new tennis shoes on the day I brought them home. I am picky, why is is so hard to find a simple pair of white shoes with a neutral trim? These are perfect, my favorite brand, they're walkers, the trim is very subtle and I paid about $35 dollars for them!

This was taken in probably the driest part of the state of Nebraska. You can see the wide and slow-moving Niobrara River wind thru the dark green wet-land area, surrounded by dry land that is almost a desert.

At first we thought this was a leaf stuck to the lock on our front door, but a closer examination showed that it was a butterfly that looks like a leaf! I searched for info on the internet, and found the picture HERE of a similar butterfly, but what I can't figure out is why that butterfly would be here in North Carolina. From what I've found, it lives in the tropics--Central or South America--so surely this isn't the same species. Can anyone tell me?

When I visited Glennview Cemetery to fulfill a Find a Grave request, the groundskeepers were so helpful. They took me to the grave and spent several minutes cleaning the marker so that my photo would look nice! It's a tough job to work outside when the temperature is over 100º!

This is the grave of my 5th great-grandfather, William Faris (1734-1818). The original marker will probably disintegrate eventually and seems to be sinking, but the nice new military marker was placed there sometime after 2005. You can see where he's buried on Find a Grave.
